Citizenship and Immigration Services notifying noncitizens of opportunities.
The Department of Homeland Security announced “a first-of-its-kind national campaign” through which millions of illegal migrants and border crossers who have been released into the U.S. can obtain work permits. The department stated they intend to “integrate newly arrived noncitizens into the American workforce.”
The department said, “Hundreds of thousands of emails and text notifications have been sent by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole, with additional notifications in Ukrainian and Russian planned in the coming days.“ Officials have also begun distributing flyers “to local NGOs, stakeholders, and migrants to explain the [Employment Authorization Document] process and provide them with a QR code for instant access to the application. “
Representative Tom McClintock of California estimated that nearly four million border crossers and illegal immigrants have found their way into American communities during the first two years of President Biden’s administration.
Mayor Eric Adams of New York City had urged the government to “stand up” and expedite the work authorization for migrants in his city. “It is time to stop this madness and allow capable, able, willing and ready people to work, to contribute to our society and have a place in the American Dream,” Mayor Adams said. “Let’s let them work.”
